This facility existed for many years and was, I believe, controlled by the military. It was never a worry to us living very close to it. The proposal to extend the facility by such a huge factor is extremely concerning for all Gosport residents. We have not been consulted at any time. Gosport is bounded by the sea, it cannot expand any more. Protect our residents and our proud military heritage by containing this project to it's original capacity.

This proposed development is becoming unsuitable for purpose. Whilst Gosport residents understand the need for an Immigrant Removal Centre, the development is expanding and there are currently no guarantees of local security preventing imminent deportees finding their way onto local streets and also how long this facility will be needed. Again, it appears another clear case of sneaking things through the channels by the government. The planning application is very misleading, again typical government. The buildings will be almost 14m high, overlooking small residential homes, with 600 men and 414 staff all creating noise throughout the night just 60 metres away from homes. The local roads will be swamped with staff cars with shift changeovers in the early hours of the morning 7 days a week. Only 259 parking spaces for 414 staff! As residents we were shown plans for this development, which have altered drastically. The planning decision has now been taken away from a local level and will be dealt with centrally. This is underhand and not acceptable, considering the drastic changes that have been made. The overdevelopment of the immigration centre will have a detrimental effect on the local area and Gosport as a whole. There is not enough provision for staff parking or parking in the local area. It is completely unfair on the direct neighbours of the centre and will affect the house prices in the area. Yet again people are not being properly consulted, plans going ahead without local planning, decisions made by people who do not live in the area or even know the area.

This application should not be allowed for many reasons, it would be potentially be thrusting 800 unknown males into an area full of young children, and from what we have seen this would be putting those children immediately under threat. I have lived in gosport for a few good years now and I am not happy with the proposal for the following reasons 1. These detainees should not be housed in a built up area where there are young families and children 2. Living directly opposite the IRC, the noise levels which will undoubtedly increase during recreational times. Plus, hearing possibly the call to prayer at ungodly hours/ times. The whole planning proposals have been pushed through without consultation with residents. Parts of the construction have gone beyond original planning application, which, in itself would be deemed illegal with an enforcement to pull it down. I am opposed to the opening and proposed expansion. I think in general having a state that cares heavily on the detention of civilians, and not so much on helping others, is bad. What's happening in the US should be a warning of what not to do. Also the centre hasn't even reopened yet and plans are being made to expand it's capacity? The scale of the proposed expansion will have a negative impact on the local area and completely dominate this end of Alverstoke. I wholeheartedly object to the expansion of IRC in Dolphin Way. I live close to this facility which has been closed for a number of years. Gosport is a deprived town as is its surrounding areas. This will do nothing to enhance Gosport but degrade it even more. Yes, I would like to attend a hearing. Increasing the capacity of the removal centre does not take into account the serious negative effect it will have on the properties that are adjacent to that centre, which is located in a residential area. The proposed revised height off the buildings will dwarf neighbouring properties. Residents will be overlooked in their homes and gardens, which will mean a total lack of privacy. I do not agree with the plan to expand upon this site. This is a beautiful area that people enjoy walking along the sea wall. It is over development of the site. The other buildings were existing so I don't object to that. Deeply disappointed that the Government has failed-to properly engage with local residents over significantly altered plans for the expansion. There needs to be more opportunity for local people to have their say, especially as the new buildings are taller and will have more impact on the local community. The proposal to adopt this plan to allow immigrants to use Haslar detention centre to hold these people is totally irresponsible. I don’t care what the home office has to say it will. The proposed accomodation blocks in phase 2 of the develop being 3 stories is significantly different to the original proposals as shared with residents at previous consultation information events. They will be higher than the original buildings of the previous IRC and are being built in an area which was not previously developed. The height of the proposed accomodation blocks I feel will be detrimental to residents whose properties are beside and opposite and will dominate the area.

This is outrageous. This will seriously affect the local community with the influx of migrants that will cause nothing but harm to a vibrant community.
