I wholeheartedly object to the expansion of IRC in Dolphin Way. I live close to this facility which has been closed for a number of years. Gosport is a deprived town as is its surrounding areas. This will do nothing to enhance Gosport but degrade it even more. I was informed by a Home Office representative, at the open forum a few months ago, that around 600 men, a large proportion of which are convicted criminals, will be housed here. As an elderly person living alone, I feel frightened for my personal safety should a break out occur. Also the devaluation of my home. The extra traffic this will create with visitors etc on already inadequate road system is far from acceptable. As an historic site with many listed buildings, this could have been a much needed community space as a museum / visitor attraction. Gosport desperately needs upgrading, with new ideas to enhance the community Not an IRC.
