Dear Sir/Madam, You will know that this site has considerable historic interest being established as an army barracks in the early 1800s for several army regiments including becoming their medical centre before, in more recent times, an immigration centre and youth detention centre. This site not only provides the appropriate security in it's present form but also adequate recreational space for those interred. I understand a substantial amount of this recreational space is to be used to construct the additional accommodation buildings, including some 3 storeys high that will surely increase tensions within the inmates unable to exercise and move around in sufficient open space. I'm also concerned that the staffing facilities were designed to facilitate the necessary management and security of the original number of inmates. So I am very concerned that this significant increase in inmate numbers will increase inmate tensions leading to adverse security incidents within the premises and potentially outside.
