When this original planning application went in GBC argued against the Government regarding the plans and us local residents were PROMISED 300 single young men locked up there for a maximum of 2 weeks and that the buildings would be 2 storey not 3 and no windows facing onto our local houses so the Government decided to change the Law to prevent other L.A’s from objecting to this situation. We have had 3 years of traffic issues due to 100s of contractors vehicles parking not just near the site but in residential roads meaning we have struggled to park, we are suffering dust and dirt everywhere, Fort Road being closed or blocked with huge trucks delivering materials and so this is a kick in the teeth. Never in my 60+ years have I seen such incompetence on this site from ignoring H&S restrictions, obviously no surveys were done prior to works beginning because millions has been wasted in finding asbestos when they’ve almost finished buildings and we have all had enough of it! 3 years to put roofs on buildings, 3 years of watching contractors sitting around in the local pub or on roofs on site. The people living directly close to the site should NOT feel intimidated by these single men watching them doing everyday things especially when being totally honest this Country SHOULD NOT be allowing them here at all. They should stay in their Countries trying to improve it. We have no issues with women, children and the elderly migrants coming here but we were promised these men would only be here for 2 weeks whilst their papers are sorted to send them back but unless you can prove where they’re from will they stay at Haslar indefinitely? You’ve spent MILLIONS on this site, giving them prayer rooms, medical centre and a dental practice when your own English people are unable to see a dentist or doctor because you won’t give the NHS more funding and yet have you got enough staff to process these men’s papers to get rid? Obviously not otherwise you wouldn’t be breaking promises to us locals by adding the things you promised wouldn’t happen🤬😡. Are we going to have Call to Prayers at all times of day and night for those 600 men? Would you want strangers like that being able to watch you going about your daily lives? I’m in a wheelchair and have had to cope with contractors vehicles parking on drop kerbs, blocking Dolphin Way, making mine and others whom are blind, have young children, prams, mobility scooters etc and now we have learnt you’ve given this “new” contract to a Company who’s reputation is very bad and expect us to stay quiet and not object to you reneging your promises to us. Alverstoke is a lovely area not the middle of London but you’re absolutely wrong to think you can do what you like because you are the Government and change Laws to get your own way and wasting the money WE HAVE EARNED FOR THIS COUNTRY whilst intending to cut spending in the future for English people who’ve worked all our lives and want to enjoy retirement quietly 🤬😡🤬😡
