I’ve lived in Gosport Hampshire for 60 years and simply don’t want this removal centre especially adding it to 600 beds . It completely destroys the whole landscape of the area . No - to 600 inmates.

I object strongly to the expansion of the IRC in Fort Road, Gosport Hampshire. The planned development has expanded exponentially since its original use as an immigration centre. Gosport itself is a peninsula with years of traffic issues due to the layout of the borough. The IRC is situated in a peninsula within a peninsula and accessed by three pinch points. The site should never of been expanded, Gosport cannot take the extreme extension, waste , water roads ( which are already struggling especially the access in and out of Gosport. The Fareham sewage system is already struggling with the new homes being erected let alone the hundreds that are supposedly going to be housed . The next is security , keeping the immigrants inside, no day release and threat by some who are known to be violent ie reason they are being deported

The original proposal for 130 beds was exactly what the site was designed for. To increase to 600 beds with 3 storey high accommodation is not suitable for the location. Those living on Fort Road, will have their privacy ruined, their homes will drop in value and their lives changed for the worse. The hole idea of putting a I.R.C.in such a congested area is beyond me before we start getting into the way it will effect the local area and the residents. The three storey buildings that are planned and were not on the original application are completely out of contextual harmony. My objections to phase two of the Haslar IRC are as follows; There is no other IRC of this size in such very close proximity, in fact actually next door, to residents any where else in the country. Regularly cycle in the Haslar area to get to Portsmouth from Lee on the Solent The access roads are narrow, this is in a residential area, bringing in and taking out this number of detainees with the increased number of staff to manage the centre will have a negative impact on the roads in the area Unless it has own health care staff and centre this many people requiring healthcare will impact on Queen Alexandra hospital which can’t cope with existing population

I believe this development is inappropriate for our community and will have a detrimental impact on residents’ sense of safety, place additional pressure on local policing and public services, and change the character of the area. This will impact the local area in a number of detrimental ways. 1. Noise pollution - arrivals and departures at all hours. At any point there may be over 1000 people in the facility and that alone will increase noise. 2. Light pollution - the pure scale of the buildings will affect the light. The size of the structure,not fair on local residents. Ho many people will it hold and will they be male female and children? Will it house people that have been in prison for sexual or violent crimes ? What company will be in charge of security. Will these persons be confined and not free to leave the unit ? I oppose the home office plan to increase the height of the new buildings at Haslar IRC. The original plan was for a substantially lower building which local people had accepted. I object to this development as the 160 bed removal centre is now 600. Residents were not consulted on the expansion. The area can not facilitate this amount of traffic in the area. Public spaces have been commandeered without approval from residents. Homes in the local area will be overlooked and their value decreased because of this monstrosity. The area will be at risk from detainees escaping from the facility as they do from prisons.

Locally six hotels have been used to house migrants arriving by boat and the huge numbers across many different sites locally has caused the local area to become a very challenging place to live, and work. I object to Hasler's new development, the noise now keeps my disabled child up all night, parking is extremely limiting in the area, there are vulnerable people that live here, the disabled and the elderly in clayhall. The parking is a problem aswell, the security if frightening. 600 men will be there, they could get out at any point, there are women, children and families here, its terrifying.

I strongly object to the proposed expansion of Haslar Immigration Removal Centre. The application reference is CROWN/2026/0000005. I object because the proposal would expand Haslar into a 600-bed detention centre, adding up to 470 additional detention places before the refurbished 130-bed centre has even reopened or been tested in practice. I am writing to object to the proposal identified under Planning Inspectorate reference CROWN/2026/0000005, particularly because it includes the construction of 3-storey accommodation blocks. I request that this objection be taken into account when determining the application. The proposed new expansion of the Haslar IRC will massively impinge on the original prison site. As if the opening of the centre wasn't going to be enough of a strain on the local community this proposed extension and capacity increase will exacerbate the situation. This increase will mean more capacity, more staff, more traffic, more noise, more light pollution, etc. No extra facilities have been proposed to deal with all this and whilst I understand this facility must be somewhere this site is massively under facilitated to cope with this. My objection is to the increase in numbers to be detained leading to a new extension plan because the new extension means the addition of three storey buildings. These are not compatible with this historic site. The extra height means not only are these top floors visible to residents and visitors to this area, but they will also overlook private residences and those walking along the sea wall. This is a perfect example of planning permission being granted then pushing for more. There is neither the infrastructure nor a comparable precedent for building 3 storeys in a residential area. No justification or consideration has gone into this at all. I strongly object. Yes I would like to attend.

I strongly object to this planning application. There is not the infrastructure and transport links to support such a large number of prisoners. This is a lovely part of Gosport and building 3 storey buildings will ruin this and make it ugly.

The key reasons that I object are: Height: the proposal to increase the height to three storeys have assured all that it would be limited to two: three are completely out of character with the area Access: the detention will have to be served by dozens of vehicles each day: staffing, food, rubbish disposal etch; yet it is served by only two narrow congested roads. I object to the plans that were secretly put through without residents knowledge for another level to be added to this facility, as I have a young family living close by and this is extremely concerning. This matter has been sent from the top and taken out of local councillors hands. The public feel as though they do not have a say in what goes on in their town which is wrong on so many levels, are we are living in a dictatorship? This must be stopped.

I have concerns about the proposed 3 story buildings that are to be erected at the site. Not only will it be a great sadness to have these buildings towering over a very scenic area, my main concern is the loss of light to local residents. I have no objection to the site itself as it has been here many years.
