My objections to phase two of the Haslar IRC are as follows; There is no other IRC of this size in such very close proximity, in fact actually next door, to residents any where else in the country. Therefore stating facts that there has been no noise disturbance, security breaches, vehicle disturbances to residents, light pollution, inconsiderate vehicle parking, obtrusion of residents privacy etc can not be stated as fact. there is no precedent to base this on. THIS IS THE ONLY IMMIGRATION REMOVAL CENTRE OF ITS KIND IN PROXIMITY TO LOCAL RESIDENTS. The planned three storey blocks are far too high and certainly not in keeping for the area. They are in fact ,the height of a 4.5 storey building. These will overlook the residents next door and across the road, just metres away. All the residents privacy and security will be removed affecting their health and welfare. Traffic will be an enormous issue. Local roads are narrow and Haslar bridge one width for traffic. staff are quoted as 414 employees BUT only provision for parking of 302, where are the other 112 going to park? Outside residents houses and blocking the junctions as has regularly happened. this causes blind spots at junctions and blocking of drive ways, causing accidents waiting to happen. the Main Access to the IRC must be through Dolphin Way or the Fort Road car park It must not be through the boatyard. This has never been an access only a boat storage yard. To put access there would be highly dangerous in a narrow residential road and accidents would happen. Vehicle headlights would shine directly into the residents houses that are directly opposite. Noise pollution from these vehicles would be horrendous as the shift system is 24 hours 7 days a week.
