No I do not wish to attend a hearing. I have been working in this sector for over three and a half years and I fully support 💯 % this plan for expansion of this detention centre. Locally six hotels have been used to house migrants arriving by boat and the huge numbers across many different sites locally has caused the local area to become a very challenging place to live, and work. Many receive different services in different hotels and fights do breakout if one group perceives another hotel receiving preferential treatment or help Local charities try to assist but as money is very limited there is not much help to be given. If one group thinks another gets more days out or services that are not given to all hotels, there can be a lot of tension. Safety and security costs much more than if it’s in just one place as these hotels need to be monitored 24/7 and that is expensive. Having 600 in one place this would not happen. Costs would be less as only one establishment would need this security. Local businesses have lost out on tourism as there are no hotel beds locally now. Health services are much more accessible if in a be building rather than being spread out across a town and beyond and establishing eligibility would be so much easier if the heath services are all in one building
