I object to the scale of the proposed detention centre and feel proper considerations have not been given to alternatives. The proposal would impact the natural environment and eco systems already in the balance with it's concreted area including extra traffic, parking etc as well as public access to the coast. It will impact demand for health care as the need of people in detention is significantly higher as healthy choices are less available to them. Furthermore, as a mental health professional, I have seen the impact of detention trauma on people's mental health. This is just a part of the increase in demand for mental health services for which infrastructure is already ill equipped to meet.
