Gosport is not big enough for this size building which will cause major issues with transport and the local housing estate, across the road. A carpark, which has always been used by local residents will no longer be available. Residents will not feel safe in their own homes. Our infrastructure is busy enough with buildings going up along the Brockhurst/Forton and now along this road cannot be allowed. Start building new roads into/out ifvv

The plans are so heavily redacted it is hard to make sense of some of the intended building plans. Increasing bed count by building a 3rd floor in the IRC Gosport will directly impact the local infrastructure. Currently the surrounding roads, Haslar road, fort road and clay hall road are in very bad shape with very big uneven bumps presenting direct risk of vehicle damage, that will only get worse with the increased traffic one the IRC opens, let alone with more than previously agreed. I object to this application because it represents a major intensification of the existing use of the site. The presence of so many extra people will break the already stretched services such as Doctors, dentists, healthcare workers. The fact something has been taken out of the locals hands is disgusting. We have no issue it being opened up again and used correctly. What we disagree with is building it larger than it needs to be we are a small town, the infrastructure is all ready struggling, house prices are dropping. I am very concerned about the proposed works that are actually going ahead to expand and build a unit to house 600 beds, a medical centre, restaurants, and sports facilities. The plans include four three-storey accommodation blocks reaching up to 12 metres. They would be substantially taller than the historic barracks and many nearby homes, with two blocks close to the Haslar Barracks Conservation Area. The height, bulk, roofline and utilitarian appearance could harm the historic character of the peninsula and affect outlook, privacy, daylight and sunlight. This application should be refused. Detention of people using their right in international and UK law to seek asylum is unjust and inhumane and breaches the refugee convention which was introduced to prevent a return to the horror of world war 2, when countries including the UK refused safe haven to people fleeing Nazi terror and condemned them to the Nazi death camps. My biggest concern is for the residents that are local to the detention centre. They have already been subjected to so much noise and disruption made just from workmen going onto the site. Parking is already an issue in the area and this has been made worse. What exactly is it going to be like once it’s open. Although I have experienced the immigration holding centre and its impact in the past this time the scale of the proposed detention centre is alarming. There have been no reassurance about the security measures that will be sufficient to protect those living nearby from any threat of immigrants breaking out. Worried about security, Bail release as Gosport is already over crowded. Changing demographics of the area when tripling the size of the occupancy. Extra weight on local services, more vehicles, roads in the area not designed for the amount of extra traffic. Also lack of transparency with building plans and local government involvement.

I am a single woman living very very close to this development. I have owned my house 10 years. I walk my dog twice a day and very concerned about my safety especially after dark in the winter.I am also concerned I may not be safe in my house alone over night. I live on fort road and feel that its gone crazy from 150 people to 600 people that mean alot more cars up and down the roads making it a lot busier house prices have dropped why should they have a doctor's on site when I can't even get to see my own doctor and this goes for dentist I've paid taxes all my life and feel its so wrong

I OBJECT I don't think this should go ahead. It will be too noisy , too many people and too many cars for this area. Too big and high, much bigger than buildings nearby. Should go somewhere else, not here. This area is not suitable for this development. I am concerned about the size of this proposal and what appears to be a huge over development when other projects have been limited by scale. I can not see this development being in keeping with the existing, generally low-rise coastal architecture as well as its impact on the community There is no precedent for an IRC of this scale in such close proximity to residential area. Gosport is an extremely important part of this country's heritage. Gosport houses our wonderful naval communities and was an essential part of the D Day landings when brave British and Canadian troups left Stokes Bay, in many cases never to return home. We fully understand the need for the IRC, however the planning process does not include Gosport Borough Council (GBC) Councillors or Planning Officers in the approval process whatsoever. Furthermore, the final planning decision will be taken by The Planning Inspectorate, not your local Council. I would definitely like to attend a meeting if there is one. I am not happy with this being near where I live at all but making it bigger is even worse.
