I object on the grounds that this is not an ordinary building project but a proposal to create a large locked detention centre on that valuable coastal site The original proposal for spaces was for 130 refugees to be housed there now a huge increase has been suggested -600 to be held there There is certain to be great pressure on local infrastructure health services and emergency services Has there been any justification for such a huge increase in numbers of refugees to be held in what will effectively be a prison ? Important information has not been made available to general public and for that reason I ask that the planning Inspectorate to refuse the application I object to the site coming under great pressure It is a unique site that with the threat of climate change and rising sea levels could be at risk of flooding and great coastal erosion The final point I shall make refers to numbers recently published showing that net migration dropped from a peak of 944.000 in the year to March 2033 to 171.000 I would ask what possible justification could there be for such a massive expansion of facilities at Haslar ? I ask again for the planning Inspectorate to refuse the application If any public consultation meetings will be held I would welcome the opportunity to be present and to speak with others who object to this proposal █████████████████████████████
