Although I have experienced the immigration holding centre and its impact in the past this time the scale of the proposed detention centre is alarming. There have been no reassurance about the security measures that will be sufficient to protect those living nearby from any threat of immigrants breaking out. There is growing anxiety among those of our neighbours living near to the development with absolutely no regard for people wanting to sell them homes or deal with the intense volume of work traffic and noise. There is no hope that this will lessen once the centre is in operation and this is having a serious impact on the quality of life. Rights if way are being compromised, accidents are narrowly avoided (at least so far) on the tight corner at the junction of Haslar Road and Fort Road. Heavy goods vehicles are constantly using roads unfit for this volume of traffic and this is causing a tangible hazard. We would not have objected to a detention centre that matched what existed before. This proposal has clearly not considered or concerned itself with the local impact on living or infrastructure. It makes a joke of local developments that would look to improve the local environment (i.e housing at Haslar and Fort Gilkicker).
