I have lived on Prison estates since 1971 and have lived happily in such an environment with no problems. I have no concerns basically with the intended Phase 1 expansion which appears to be similar to the original IRC which closed down holding approximately 100 immigrants. I strongly oppose the Crown development plans for the Haslar Immigration Removal Centre . My objections are as follows The building of huge , tall accomodation blocks are literally neighbouring the residents of Fort Road. Just metres away from their homes. As the local Cllr for Anglesey ward, I have concerns that this initial consultation is very time limited. The Conservative Group on the Council and the MP have already made very detailed comments so I will not repeat them hear. I am concerned that so much info has been redacted which will lead local residents thinking the worse. I do not believe that so much needs to kept out of the public domain.

Absolutely no to increasing this site 130 people is more than enough 600 is absolutely ridiculous. This community cannot take this volume of mostly young men coming into Gosport, the community and-infrastructure of what that would entail and how would it impact on all of our lives here in Gosport? I am very very much against this I have a five year-old granddaughter who I do not wish and would not feel comfortable about walking around Gosport as I do now if there was an additional 600 men here.... I strongly object to the proposed increase in the size of the Haslar Immigration Centre from 130 to 600. This is totally unacceptable in a town of this size. It will have an incredibly negative impact on infrastructure,roads and the community. To inflict this project onto a community of mainly retired veterans is unacceptable. I am opposed to this proposal. The expansion from 130 to 600 ‘residents’ is too big a leap, the current site is not suitable for this number and would require significant redevelopment at tax payers expense. The local community cannot tolerate an influx of a rotating 600 residents with associated antisocial behaviour drinking alcohol and loitering, as well as sexual violence against women and girls. I am deeply concerned about the changes in size/height of this development, about potential changes in its use, namely from an immigration removal centre to potentially an immigration bail centre and also I am concerned about the huge amount of traffic that will plague our neighbourhood. I have lived in Gosport for 60 years and have seen many changes . The soon to be IRC is being updated to accommodate 130 people who have entered the country illegally. I understand that this problem needs to be addressed but this plan has not been fully assessed bearing in mind the proximity of this town. I strongly object the plans for the IRC. The home office have not gone through the correct planning process which would give residents a say on the matter. They have not been transparent and have been very secretive which is a big red flag. What are they hiding? I am totally opposed to the three storey high buildings that are now being built in the Haslar Immigration Removal Centre. I would like to attend a hearing in the event one is scheduled. My concerns are that a democratic government should act with transparency. The plans set out by the current Labour government for the Haslar IRC are not clear at all. The local residents and council should have a say, unfortunately that has not been the case. Gosport is on a peninsular, therefore the size of the IRC is going to affect the infrastructure with excess traffic on limited roads to and from the centre.

This development has been significantly altered from the original plan without any consultation with Local Council or residents. Local infrastructure cannot support an institution of this size without significant impact to residents. The whole process is at odds with Open Government. Impact on the community has not been fully and risk assessed. Little or nothing has been communicated to residents about the management and day to day operations of the site.

The roads in/out of this site are less than B roads, this three story building will over look a retirement community for retired ex service people, no bus service except two in morning two in afternoon, so to get to this site is cars,van & lorries,,they are not fit to support this Prison building or supplying to this prison, the site is on a peninsula to get to site you either go through country road then via housing area or through town centre across a single use one way bridge, the road in/out... I would like the home office to confirm that once detainees are within HASLAR they are not allowed access to the local community ? On day trips even further into other communities ? What is the planning for transport movement in and around the site, fort road is particularly difficult to get in and out of especially during rush hours as there is a school and college approx 1 mile away, staff will have to travel in for shift changes and detainees being moved by transport at all different times ... Having attended two past meetings, I find that there is no one in Gosport who have been consulted on this disgusting matter. We have homeless people plus pensioners who would love accommodation and medical treatment. What a complete disgrace this to this once wonderful country.

I am fully against the expansion of the current facility that will allow an increased immigrant population living near me and my family. I want full assurances that once detained, these individuals, who will most likely be young males of unknown foreign origin that do not hold the same values as myself and my family, are detained within the facility and are not permitted to leave the site.

If I have to explain the concerns that Gosport residents have over the haslar detention centre it shows how out of touch the government are. All I will say is, let’s put the scheme in the hands of local people and vote on whether the expansion should go ahead. Once again the good ideas club has not thought about this, however no doubt it will go ahead and nothing will change Gosport cannot support this, the infrastructure is not robust enough.
