I strongly object to the proposed increase in the size of the Haslar Immigration Centre from 130 to 600. This is totally unacceptable in a town of this size. It will have an incredibly negative impact on infrastructure,roads and the community. To inflict this project onto a community of mainly retired veterans is unacceptable. The elderly and vulnerable are extremely anxious about having 600 detainees who could potentially escape into a population of vulnerable residents.Knowing this governments poor record on prisons is also a worrying factor.
