Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to formally object to the proposed increase in the number of detainees at Haslar Immigration Removal Centre. As a local resident, I have serious concerns about the impact this proposal could have on our community. Gosport is situated on a peninsula with limited transport links and road access. The local road network already experiences significant congestion, particularly during peak travel times, and increasing the capacity of the detention centre is likely to place further pressure on an infrastructure that is already struggling to cope. I am also concerned about the additional demand this proposal could place on local public services, including emergency services, healthcare, and other community resources. Before any increase is approved, there should be clear evidence that the necessary infrastructure and services are capable of supporting the additional demand without adversely affecting local residents. Furthermore, I believe this proposal has the potential to negatively affect the desirability of the surrounding area and could impact local property values. While property values are influenced by many factors, this is a genuine concern shared by many residents and should be taken into account as part of the overall assessment. In addition, I am concerned about the welfare of those detained. Any increase in capacity must not compromise standards of accommodation, healthcare, safeguarding, or oversight. Given these concerns, I respectfully urge you to reject the proposal to increase the capacity of Haslar Immigration Removal Centre. I ask that full consideration is given to the cumulative impact on local infrastructure, traffic, public services, the local community, and those detained before any decision is made. Thank you for considering my objections. I trust that they will be given full and careful consideration as part of the consultation process. Yours faithfully, ████████████
