I have lived in Gosport for 60 years and have seen many changes . The soon to be IRC is being updated to accommodate 130 people who have entered the country illegally. I understand that this problem needs to be addressed but this plan has not been fully assessed bearing in mind the proximity of this town. Gosport is a peninsular therefore there are only two roads in which to enter or leave the area. The congestion ,parking and emergency access is extremely frustrating. Gosport has already lost the railway station and Haslar hospital which adds to the need for family cars. Gosport has only one NHS dentist to serve around 70,000 residents. The GP surgeries are struggling to offer a service due to high demand which in turn puts pressure on the 111 system Ii understand that the people detained in this facility will appear to have priority over local residents for health care! Apart from the above why has additional planning permission been sought to exrtend the proposed IRC without consulting the local council and residents? Now I see the IRC could have 600 people accommodated there which is incredulous. I trust there will be a revised decision on this planning application bearing in mind the comments which I’m sure will be made by other residents of Gosport. I do not wish to attend a hearing should there be one.
