I wish to record my objection to the expansion of IRC Haslar. I fully support the objections already made on this proposal by our MP Dame Caroline Dinenage, Cllr Lesley Meenaghan, Suzanne Greenwood on behalf of Environment Agency and David Cranmer on behalf of DCC Town Planning. The Government recently announced its desire to devolve decision making to a local level; handing back powers to local communities. Yet the exact opposite is happening in this application. The fact that details are being withheld from the public by means of redacting drawings and my primary concern on the operational detail of what actually happens to detainees released on Immigration Bail, lacks the transparency that Mr Burnham is promising us all. This expansion is completely overwhelming for Gosport and should be shut down at this stage before it harms the area and the community.
