Re: Objection to the Proposed Expansion of Haslar Immigration Removal Centre, Gosport I am writing to object to the proposed expansion of the Haslar Immigration Removal Centre in Gosport. I have lived in this area and care deeply about our community. I believe this proposal is simply too large for Gosport and will have a significant impact on local residents. I am concerned that increasing the capacity of the detention centre will place even greater pressure on our local roads, GP surgeries, hospitals, emergency services and other public facilities, which are already under considerable strain. I do not believe there has been enough evidence to show that our local infrastructure can cope with such a substantial increase. I am also worried about the effect this development will have on the character of the area. The scale of the proposed expansion is out of keeping with the surrounding neighbourhood and will inevitably lead to increased traffic, noise, construction disruption and a loss of residential amenity for those living nearby. I feel that local residents have not been listened to properly. A decision of this importance should reflect the views of the community that will live with its consequences for many years to come. I believe there should be far greater consultation before any approval is considered. I understand the Government has responsibilities regarding immigration and detention, but I do not believe this proposal is the right solution for Gosport. I respectfully ask that this application is refused, or at the very least delayed until a full and independent assessment of its impact on local services, infrastructure and residents has been completed. Thank you for taking the time to consider my objections. I hope you will give serious weight to the concerns of local people when making your decision. Yours faithfully, █████████████████
