The whole of the Haslar peninsula is planned for development, Haslar hospital, housing on ex MOD land, the future development of Fort Blickhouse. The IRC upper level extension, will take away the privacy of all the local residents. Already we are seeing a drop in the value of properties surrounding the IRC, with some residents unable to sell, because of the IRC. I strongly object to the expansion of IRC, as I feel if this is allowed, it opens the doors for future development on that site.

I object to the proposed expansion plans for the Haslar IRC. The new/updated plans are not in keeping with the area which is predominantly a quiet residential area of Gosport. Furthermore the scale of the proposed expansion is too large with 3 storey buildings and large recreational areas. The area of the sea wall is used by locals for walking and this will now make this feel unsafe. Yes I would like to attend a meeting. Gosport doesn’t have the infrastructure to cope with this proposal. GP, Dental and hospital will be affected to the detriment of the people of this area. The clientele’s needs will be met before the local population. Water and sewage is already a problem in this area. I won’t be able to attend the hearing but I feel that as a resident of the area this project has been nothing but a nightmare for us from the beginning. With noisy building works, road closures and irresponsible parking. There has been numerous incidents and accidents due to poor parking this is only going to get worse. We live on a peninsula surrounded by affluent marinas. The local economy is going to the dogs anyway where high street is run down, no decent shops, no transport links I.e. only a bus every 2 hours going 1 way. We are a small town on a peninsula with no railway access ,the housing of these immigrants on the waterfront is totally the wrong place to hold them, I have grave concerns for the local people when any being held there are released , I am totally against this stupid proposal for 600 unknown characters being held in this massively expensive holding centre.

I have lived near the Haslar Immigration Removal Centre since 2002. When the facility operated prior to its closure, it had very little impact on the local community. I am not opposed in principle to the site being brought back into use for immigration purposes, and I recognise the national need for such facilities. All those boats crossing the English Channel and the men coming to the UK Then being put in to hotels and holding centres is not the answer, they need to be sent back, other countries seem to manage this. It costing the UK money and from the news, France helps them on the way to the UK and we are paying France to stop this. Gosport use to be a proud naval town. Let’s make Britain great again. Whoever thought an IRC hosting 600 individuals could be located in a small enclosed site at the end of peninsula really did not do their homework. No consideration has been given to the associated issues of parking provision for the multitude of staff required to service the facility or access via local roads. This application is disgusting House prices have gone down so much since it was started. They were not allowed to build a phase 2 or 3 when it was a detention centre before. How is it now ok to do so.. Not being allowed to get to sea wall & the carpark being sold of is also very wrong. Gosport will be ruined because of this back handed business. It's Shocking .

Because of Gosport's location, we effectively have two roads on and off the peninsula which are invariably over-used during most of the working day causing long delays in getting off the peninsula, particularly in the mornings and evenings. An additional 600 people who are allowed to roam free will only add to this problem. I wish to object to the proposed development for the Gosport Immigration Centre. My reasons are the lack of infrastructure. Residents of Gosport already struggle to get doctors appointments and NHS dental appointments. Gosport is a relatively small town with minimal infrastructure, housing 600 illegal migrants here is going to put a strain on that infrastructure. The roads in and out of Gosport are all ready choked with traffic without adding the vehicles that will be needed to bring in supplies. From the outset the consultation has been perfunctory if not misleading. Minimal information which gave no accurate insight in what would be the impact of the development on the local environment and its residents. There is no doubt that the quality of life for local people will be adversely affected. This development should not be done under crown development due to the close location of properties. This should be done under the control of the local planning council and with full consultation with immediate local residents. 3 stories is out of proportion for the area and is just crown development bullying there way into doing what they want instead of what’s best for keeping with the local area.

I object to the way this proposed application has been dealt with, it seems to have quite deliberately ignored not only our local planning department at Gosport Borough Council, but also all the local people in this area. Even as foreign immigrant myself I very strongly disagree with having so many foreign illegal immigrants hosted in Gosport. I fully support the proposed development as it stands at the moment. I understand it is larger than the original proposal with an extra storey, but I do not believe it will change the look of the area substantially. The only concern I have is access to the waterfront in that area and parking for local residents and visitors to the area. I am a widow living on my own within 200-300 metres from IRC Haslar. I am very concerned that the government has proposed up to 600 illegal immigrants are to be housed there. That amount of young men who have not been allowed to stay here are going to be extremely angry and I’m sure it won’t be long before riots could break out and possible breakouts.
