Objection to the Proposed Expansion of Haslar Immigration Removal Centre – Planning Application 26/00216/CROWN I strongly object to the proposed expansion of Haslar Immigration Removal Centre. I am particularly concerned about the scale of the development and its impact on neighbouring residents and the character of the Haslar area. The proposed three-storey accommodation buildings could result in loss of privacy, overlooking, visual intrusion and a significant change to the outlook of nearby homes. I am also concerned about the additional traffic, parking pressure, noise and disruption, both during construction and once the expanded facility is operational. The surrounding roads and local infrastructure must be capable of safely accommodating the substantial increase in activity. Haslar is a historically important and sensitive location, and I am concerned that a development of this scale could have a detrimental effect on its historic character and setting. I believe the cumulative impact on local residents has not been adequately addressed, particularly the effects on residential amenity, traffic, privacy, noise and the local environment. I therefore ask that the application be refused, unless the applicant can provide clear evidence that these concerns have been properly assessed and satisfactorily addressed. The views of residents who live alongside the site should be given proper consideration before such a significant expansion is approved. Please formally record my objection and take it fully into account when considering this application.
