No I do not wish to attend a hearing. I have been working in this sector for over three and a half years and I fully support 💯 % this plan for expansion of this detention centre. Locally six hotels have been used to house migrants arriving by boat and the huge numbers across many different sites locally has caused the local area to become a very challenging place to live, and work. We as a community were told the buildings would not be erected any higher than the original. To be told this has changed without our knowledge is an absolute disgrace. I am completely opposed to this new development as it will spoil our beautiful town.

I strongly object to the “Phase 2” expansion of the Haslar Immigration Removal Centre proposed at Crown Development Application CROWN/2026/0000005. I was previously a serving Councillor on Gosport Borough Council and at the first public engagement event by the MoJ/Home Office, we were assured that the IRC operation would solely cater for male detainees whose asylum applications had been determined and rejected, and that all detainees would be repatriated directly from the HASLAR IRC. It's so wrong to build a 3rd floor extension on the buildings at hasler. It will destroy a nice area. Just for people who won't be in this Country long. They should just double up in rooms.

continued... Noise pollution. Staff entering and leaving the site during shift changeovers will create a great deal of noise. 414 staff create a lot of noise by talking, slamming vehicle doors, vehicle engines, mobile phone conversations, car stereos, car alarms etc. shift chaneovers will take place between 7am to 8am and 7pm to 8pm (transport assessment document p25), so staff are predicted to arrive from 6.30am. I have no objection to this proposal. It's out of the way and as long as the people there are not mistreated it seems a constructive use of the area. Our MP owns a property nearby hence her sudden opposition.

I am appalled that this development is being pushed through for possibly 600 inmates when the town cannot cope currently with it's own infrastructure for medical, housing and educational needs. I have no objection to having a centre there but the sheer size and disruption of it all will cause to local residents is something that has not been adequately considered. As a Gosport resident I object to the expansion of Haslar IRC. Regeneration of what is there is OK but the plans for new three storey building will be out of character for the area and disrupt the lives of the local residents, look unsightly, add additional traffic and noise issues to the area etc.

I am objecting to scaling this facility to 600 beds before the initial 130 bed phase has been opened and operationally tested. The 3 storey accommidation blocks are significantly taller than historic local structures and harm the character of the area. Gosport is a peninsula and does not have the infrastructure to cope with the traffic & parking that will be needed for this many staff. I object to Hasler's new development, the noise now keeps my disabled child up all night, parking is extremely limiting in the area, there are vulnerable people that live here, the disabled and the elderly in clayhall. The parking is a problem aswell, the security if frightening. 600 men will be there, they could get out at any point, there are women, children and families here, its terrifying.

As if the opening of the centre wasn't going to be enough of a strain on the local community this proposed extension and capacity increase will exacerbate the situation. My objection is to the increase in numbers to be detained leading to a new extension plan because the new extension means the addition of three storey buildings. These are not compatible with this historic site. The extra height means not only are these top floors visible to residents and visitors to this area, but they will also overlook private residences and those walking along the sea wall. This is a perfect example of planning permission being granted then pushing for more. There is neither the infrastructure nor a comparable precedent for building 3 storeys in a residential area. I object to the plans that were secretly put through without residents knowledge for another level to be added to this facility, as I have a young family living close by and this is extremely concerning. This matter has been sent from the top and taken out of local councillors hands. I have concerns about the proposed 3 story buildings that are to be erected at the site. Not only will it be a great sadness to have these buildings towering over a very scenic area, my main concern is the loss of light to local residents. I have no objection to the site itself as it has been here many years.
