This would not be good for Gosport, it will be far too many people being held there. Gosport is a small Quite area and I really feel that this situation would cause trouble. I’d really feel safer if it did not go ahead.

Firstly why do we need this for immigrants if they are going to be deported? Totally wrong on all accounts, how long will the live in the borough and how will the infrastructure cope as todate there is not enough doctors, dentist etc. Are they allowed to wander freely in our very small town? Its mostly retired or elderly people, it's just not possible to have 600 male young men in this part of the United Kingdom, with such alot of young families on the housing list. I have lived in gosport for a few good years now and I am not happy with the proposal for the following reasons 1. These detainees should not be housed in a built up area where there are young families and children 2. Gosport is under to much pressure for housing it's own residence and the Haslar upgrade should be headed towards them , not young foreign criminals. 3. It doesn't really matter what the people of gosport say this is going to get rail roaded. We wouldn't have this problem if the government got their act together. There is no room for this,it's bad enough to see a doctor,make an appointment as it is so where will the priorities lie ??? Shocking display of arrogance from the home office...listen to our local MP and councillors and above all the people of gosport !!!

As one of many other residents in the area I have been against this decision from the start. We do not want this kind of place in our small town. What now makes it even worse is the fact that we have all been lied to about the amount of people this establishment will now actually hold. Living directly opposite the IRC, the noise levels which will undoubtedly increase during recreational times. Plus, hearing possibly the call to prayer at ungodly hours/ times. No doubt increase of traffic causing disruption its bad enough now with contractors arriving / leaving site let alone the reversing alarms going off constantly throughout the days. This is residential area and the amount of traffic a noise this will course day and night is not except able for the quite area .Not to mention the increased danger this will course .I have no faith in the running of this centre and the amount of noise dirt and loss of the carpark and green area already taken by this scheme .We do not want 3 storey buildings changing the view and privacy of all houses opposite the centre . Gosport residents have the right to be consulted about the expansion of the Haslar Immigration Detention Centre. How can the government just disregard the view of the Gosport community. Gosport residents who have lived here all their lives are leaving in droves because of of this. The labour government should be ashamed of what have done to the local Gosport community.

The plans have been significantly amended from the public consultation and have increased to three stories rather than two, the information we were provided with is not what the plans are now. How can this be considered acceptable? No local decision for the area, as the final decision will be decided by the government planning inspectorate who are obviously in favour and will not be adversely affected as the local people will be - again how is this acceptable? I, like thousands of other Gosport residents firmly reject any further tax payer funding for this site/building. The whole planning proposals have been pushed through without consultation with residents. Parts of the construction have gone beyond original planning application, which, in itself would be deemed illegal with an enforcement to pull it down. When this original planning application went in GBC argued against the Government regarding the plans and us local residents were PROMISED 300 single young men locked up there for a maximum of 2 weeks and that the buildings would be 2 storey not 3 and no windows facing onto our local houses so the Government decided to change the Law to prevent other L.A’s from objecting to this situation. I object to this proposal, because adding an additional 470 places before the 130 space centre has been reopened or tested clearly risks harm to the local area, and to people involved. I am especially concerned about flood risk, coastal safety, emergency evacuation and climate change. I am against this proposal. Haslar immigration centre is right in the middle of residential areas and heavily visited areas, too increase the height and population would be very detrimental to the area. It would alter the safety feeling of such a small town , just by the nature of feeling of threat . It would alter the look of the immediate area , be over imposing . I am objecting to this phase 2 build because at no point has the health and wellbeing of local people been taken into consideration during Phase 1 of the build which will continue into phase 2 unless something positive changes. We have had to put up with contractor noise, air pollution from demolition of buildings, contractor movements of heavy lorries and inconsiderate contractors who refuse to park in the designated car park.
