Dear Planning Inspectorate, I am writing to object to the proposed expansion of Campsfield House Immigration Removal Centre. The application reference is CROWN/2026/0000004. I object because the proposal would more than double the size of Campsfield, from 160 to 400 places, on Green Belt land. I am concerned that the expansion would make the site more built-up, harm the openness of the Green Belt, and add pressure to local roads, services and infrastructure. The Home Office has not clearly sh... Read more

As a local County and District Councillor for Kidlington, I strongly object to the proposed expansion of Campsfield House Immigration Removal Centre through the provision of an additional 240 detention places. This proposal conflicts with the development plan, undermines the strategic planning vision for the area, fails to demonstrate a proven operational need, and would have significant adverse impacts on the future economic, transport and environmental objectives for North Oxford. It also r... Read more

Dear Planning Inspectorate, I am writing to object to the proposed expansion of Campsfield House Immigration Removal Centre. The application reference is CROWN/2026/0000004. I disagree with the expansion and continuous use of this facility. The Home Office has not clearly shown why 240 additional detention places are needed at Campsfield specifically, or why existing capacity, alternatives to detention, or other estate options would not be sufficient. This is especially important because... Read more

I am opposed to the proposed expansion of the Campsfield House IRC for a number of reasons. Generally I think IRC’s are both uneconomic and inhumane. They are uneconomic because many people detained are released back to into the community within a short period so there was no point detaining them. They are inhumane because detention is an extremely traumatic experience for people who are seeking sanctuary in the UK having fled persecution. It is particularly stressful when it’s not clear if/... Read more

Dear Planning Inspectorate, I write to object to the proposed expansion of Campsfield House Immigration Removal Centre (reference is CROWN/2026/0000004.) The proposal seeks to increase the number of people who could be accommodated at Campsfield from 160 to 400. This 250% increase in places is proposed on Green Belt land. So the expansion would result in more buildings, reducing the openness of the Green Belt, and adding demands on local roads, services and infrastructure. Criticall... Read more

I object to the Home Office’s proposal to expand Campsfield House Immigration Removal Centre for the following reasons. Green Belt harm Campsfield is on Green Belt land. Green Belt land is meant to stay open and protected from unnecessary development. However, the proposed expansion proposes large new accommodation blocks, up to 16 metres tall, and more parking, fencing, lighting, and security infrastructure. This would make the site more built-up and less open. The main argument made by th... Read more
