To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to raise my concern about the proposed development of Campsfield IRC. I object to this planning application and am of the view that there should be a public enquiry to assess whether this development is the right option for people in the UK. I am deeply concerned that the proposal would mean building on greenbelt land without any clear justification for the need for further expansion of the existing site. Greenbelt land is vital for the health of the countryside, it supports vital ecosystems and biodiversity. It is essential that this land is protected. We are currently seeing the significant impacts of climate change, much of the UK is currently subject to water shortages and temperatures that I impacting people's health and livlihoods. It is essential that our environment is protected. The proposed development is situated near to Oxford airport, this is already causing a significant environmental nuissance, particularly for the people of Kidlington. Further expansion of the IRC would impact the local amenities and wellbeing of people who live in the area. Re-purposing greenbelt land for the purposes of expanding a detention centre is unfair on the local population. Furthermore, these plans for expansion are completely disproportionate. There is no clear evidence that more detention spaces are needs, there are alternatives to putting people in detention that would be much more appropriate. The proposed development is harmful to the people who would be held there and it is harmful to the local community. I object to the proposal and think the decision should be taken to a public enquiry. Kind regards, Ms Jackson
