The application should be declined due to the following points: 1. The facility breaches the National Planning Policy Framework by causing significant harm to health, quality of life, and public amenity, particularly through noise, light, and traffic pollution. 2. A full and up-to-date Environmental Impact Assessment is required for developments of this scale, and its absence or inadequacy undermines the legal basis for continuation. 3. The site contradicts Ashford Borough Council’s Local Plan, which prioritises residential quality of life, sustainable development, and protection from excessive industrial activity. 4. The noise, disruption, and environmental degradation caused by the facility may amount to a breach of residents’ rights under Article 8 of the Human Rights Act. 5. The increased risk of road accidents and lack of traffic enforcement violates duties under the Highways Act to maintain safe and usable public roads. 6. There is evidence of insufficient public consultation, which may breach legal requirements under Section 18 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. 7. The site is strategically misplaced, as expert bodies have argued it is too far from Dover to be operationally effective, undermining its justification as a permanent site. For the purpose of clarity I would like to represent my vote against the site continuing or further development.
