I am writing to object to Crown Development Application Crown/2026/0000005 concerning the proposed expansion of Haslar Immigration Removal Centre. I am indicating that I would wish to give oral evidence in front of a hearing or public enquiry should that opportunity apply. I wish to strongly object to the height of the 4 buildings, at 12 metres high and 3 storey’s, they are out of context for this locality, further more are intrusive which makes them totally unsuitable for this locality. Especially as they are situated only 20 metres from a designated heritage area, which also adds further to their unsuitability. I wish to strongly object to the height of the 4 buildings, at 12 metres high and 3 storey’s, I cannot emphasis enough how these proposed buildings overlook private properties that border the proposed development. Local residents will lose their privacy and will intimidated. I note that the applicant has not offered any form of solution to this issue, although the applicant has acknowledged this as an issue in the Design and Access statement. I further strongly object to this proposed development that will increased vehicle movements over the junction of Fort Road and Dolphin Way. The proposed phase 2 development will cause a significant amount of extra pollution, degraded air quality and noise which will be 24/7 and 365 days a year. Additionally this will make the life of local residents who live in close proximity to this busy junction, intolerable and affect their quality of life. With reference to the Human Rights Act 1998, article 8, The Entitlement to a Home Life, which includes the enjoyment of your home without noise and vibration 24/7 365 days a year. I further strongly object to the proposed construct vehicle gate being situated unacceptably close to a residential property. (Design and Access Statement, page 25) I further strongly object to the increased heavy goods vehicle movements on Fort Road and the parking of the said vehicles waiting to be unloaded and having to reverse out into Fort Road once unloaded. This will cause pollution, dust, degraded air quality and noise and vibration disturbance. Fort Road is already a busy road and a bus route, additionally consideration must be given to local residents along Fort Road with existing health issues which will exacerbated by this proposed development. Additionally the right for local residents who live along Fort Road to come and go from their properties without the hindrance of waiting heavy good vehicle blocking their entrances and drive ways. This concludes my letter of objection and I thank the planning inspectorate for the provision and opportunity to make this planning objection. Yours sincerely
