The phase 1 and 2 developments of the immigration centre are not what the original plans were. The height of the buildings to be built are in contravention of the original plans - how dare those in charge do as they please. If a resident contravened planning permission they’d be ordered to tear their structure down! This is a large residential area and the constant noise and disruption has been going on for nearly 2 years now, with no end in sight. Workers dump their cars in residential roads, on corners , over driveways, blocking access to dustbin lorries, fire engines and delivery lorries, despite the fact contractors have their own car park. The second phase of the development will mean that the site car park will be over 100 spaces light. This is unacceptable and unfair to local residents. Residential roads are for residents to park on, not contractors or staff of the centre. We have a right to a peaceful existence in our community. You have an obligation to keep any disruption to that peace to an absolute minimum. The centre will bring 24/7 noise, and traffic coming and going at all hours, again with no thought to local residents. This community is a mix of families and retired people who all deserve consideration. We fully accept that the immigration centre will be up and running. After the hundreds of millions spent on it, it needs to be a useable facility. But from day one, residents have been disregarded and deceived. Checks and balances now need to implemented by an independent body for the remainder of the works and beyond to help meet the needs and concerns of the residents.
