I wish to register my objections to the Home Office's proposal to increase the size of Haslar Immigration Centre in Gosport. I am unable to attend a hearing. The application reference is: Crown /2026/0000005. I am responding as a local citizen and a fellow human being. I believe thst holding people indefinitely is inhumane and will lead to mental health issues for these people. It is outrageous that 130 people are already being held in this way. To increase this number would be criminal. These people have already suffered trauma and to further exacerbate this would be a huge waste of lives as well as extremely expensive. I believe that Asylum Seekers should be made to feel welcome, given residency, taught English so that they can integrate and supported so they can convert their qualifications achieved in country of origin and become useful citizens in our society. We need more compassion and to utilise their skills not anger and hatred. The site us also near to valuable coastline in terms of ecology and nature. This would be under threat if building expansion were to occur. Instead of holding people indefinitely we should be looking and why people are in fear in their country of origin.
