I would be very happy to attend a public hearing. I am opposed to this planning application. The new Prime Minister is very keen to devolve decisions, processes and politics away from Westminster and empower greater “local” influence and decisions. Why then is this planning application being effectively forced through by the Home Office using powers that are a clear abuse of the democratic process. Furthermore, the documents supporting the Planning Application have been significantly redacted - what is there to hide. This is supposed to be a Planning Application, not a Highly Sensitive document that has significant Security or Political sensitivity - or does it and hence the level of redacted text is hiding something. The Home Office must come clean and Burnham should step in and allow GBC to assess the Planning Application in house. GBC can then make a decision that has been thoroughly scrutinised in the normal manner, cognisant of all the “local” factors that apply, for and against. Simply allowing the Home Office to drive a Coach and Horses through the British democratic process is wholly irresponsible and immoral.
