I would like to endorse all that Dame Caroline Dinenage said in her correspondence to you and add some of my own comments. When moving to Gosport over 9 years ago I specifically chose the Hasler area for a number of reasons but primarily the peace and quite of the area, along with the amazing wildlife that used to inhabit the sea wall area. The wildlife that I have observed are Kestrel, Osprey, Buzzard, Red Kite, Skylarks, Swallows, Starlings, and many other popular birds, i.e. sparrows, blue tits. I have also seen seals in the water, foxes playing with their cubs and very rarely a badger; since the work has started on the IRC the habitat of these animals has been destroyed and I no longer enjoy this beautiful wildlife as they have been frighten off by the building noise. I used to walk the sea wall every day but now am sadden by the destruction that I see and the shattering of the peace and quite that I used to enjoy. The other issue that I want to bring to your attention is that this is a very small quite residential area with limited access and parking. Of the two main access routes in one is over a single right of way bridge controlled by traffic lights and the other is best described as a country lane with blind bends and no footpaths and there is a very limited bus service. The noise of shift change over at 6.30 in the morning and the parking situation will destroy the lives of the local residence and greatly increase the likelihood of a serious RTA. I would also like to draw your attention to the consultation that we had with the main contractor and that ensured us that it would be a small change to the existing prison size I therefore would beg you to refuse permission to extend this site from 200 to 600 prisoners.
