If there is a hearing I would like to attend My wife and I have lived in the residential area of Haslar IRC since 2013 After a period of closure we were informed at a public meeting that it was proposed to re-open the site after renovation of the current 19th century buildings to accommodate something in the region of 100 ████████ single male immigrants and to also extend the plot for new 2 story accomodation and other buildings to increase the capacity to around 600. The plans shown have proven to have been inaccurate and misleading as was the stated timescale. For the last 3 years we have been subject to noise of arriving workforce normally from around 6.30 am with vehicle noise, loud voices, loud opening and closing of vehicle doors. Work is not supposed to start until 8am. Every weekday from 8am until around 5 pm and Saturdays until around 1.30 pm, we are subject noise from the workforce, plant vehicles and the audible bleeps to indicate their presence, and general building works noises plus the regular noise of heavy goods vehicles which are often parked within yards with their engines running while waiting for access to the site. On working days there have been huge amounts of dust from the site so our vehicles, houses have been constantly covered. We have dust through any open windows into our homes and even through closed windows evidenced by layers of thick dust on widow sills of closed windows. If this project proceeds to conclusion, we and our neighbours will be subject to abnormal heavy traffic 24 hours a day due staff soming and going on and to shift and unknown traffic from detainees arriving and leaving every 24 hours of each day. The value of our prooperty will no doubt be reduced to virtually nothing after hoping all opur lives to leave something for our children and theirs. Prisons, detention centres, Immigration centres etc should not be located in residential areas and if this project proceeds to completion it will have a devastating effect on the area.
