I object to the Haslar IRC in Gosport. It is shocking and sickening to see this development and what’s being included for the comfort of those that are being detained, receiving a better quality of living standard and access to services than the majority of residents living in Gosport. This prime location overlooking the Solent could have been redeveloped in a multitude of ways to support the regeneration of our town and to improve the environment and living standards for local residents. It is inconceivable that decision making has been removed from local council and residents in this way and shows a total disregard for the needs and support of citizens in this country over illegal immigrants. Increasing capacity of this centre will just be the start. I’m sure the next plan will be to release some that are held into our community putting people’s lives at risk, especially women and children. And this is all being done with our tax payers money which add salt to the wound.
