The construction work is already causing chaos and massive disruption to Gosport and Alverstoke. Gosport is a peninsula town is not a large town. Gosport has limited roads on and off the peninsula, none of which were ever built to cope with the heavy construction traffic. It is completely immoral that men should be housed in buildings that directly overlook homes. When this was an IRC I was a visitor. At that time the detainees were not ex offenders and it was run by the prison service. I was aware that on more than one occasion detainees went over the fence and were located in Gosport town market. In addition, one detainee told me that he found it strange that he could see directly into a local home. I wonder if the homeowner knew? Increasing the population to 600 detainees is excessive for the site and it's available land. Parking for staff? Visitors? Deliveries? More traffic along either residential road Fort Road, Clayhall Road or via Haslar Road and the Bridge. Ludicrous. Who in their right minds can think this is right?
