I would like to strongly object to this planning application for the following reasons: Local Infrastructure.. The huge increase in the proposed number of inmates that this application is proposing will obviously greatly increase the number of traffic movements on the peninsula. Local public services shall also come under increasing pressure. Environment: The light pollution from the proposed “Prison standard” lighting The dust , noise, exhaust fumes from construction traffic….bearing in mind local residents have already been subject to these for two years already !! Safety: Being on a peninsula within a peninsula…there are only two single lane roads in and out. The fact that half a mile from the IRC there is 1200 residential home renovation of the historic Haslar hospital site already underway, and directly adjacent to that 2 more sites have been earmarked for housing development only increase the chance of there being traffic accidents on these minor roads. Conclusion: The residents of Gosport as a whole and in particular the residents of Clayhall have accepted the redevelopment of the old Detention Center into an IRC with good grace. However the sheer scale of the stage 3 application is a step way too far. The fact that large amounts of the application have been redacted, coupled with the process that has been chosen to get this application this far makes me, and others, extremely suspicious of what is about to be forced upon us. You are our last hope ! Please could I be kept informed of any future hearing details.
