I am totally against this planning application. 1. The Haslar Immigration Removal Centre (IRC) has a troubled history, highlighted by the 2011 HM Inspectorate of Prisons report, which labeled it as the "worst accommodation in the immigration estate." This report detailed numerous instances of mistreatment and inhumane conditions faced by detainees. I argue that reopening Haslar with an increased capacity of 600 beds would likely replicate these past failures. 2. Bypassing Local Government: Using the Crown Development process strips Gosport Borough Council and local elected representatives of their proper decision-making powers, moving accountability entirely to Whitehall.Censored Information: Significant portions of the application documents and drawings remain heavily redacted, preventing meaningful and transparent public scrutiny. 3. The planning application to increase the capacity of Haslar Immigration Removal Centre (IRC) to 600 beds fails to tackle the underlying issues contributing to illegal migration. Simply expanding detention facilities does not address the systemic problems that lead individuals to migrate illegally and stopping them entering via illegal routes.
