I am vehemently opposed to this application. It has been created by faceless bureaucrats who have no idea what the area of Gosport is like. It is an extremely populated island peninsula with limited access and egress. Traffic is an overwhelming problem already. This particular are of Gosport is historically important and has many grade 2 listed buildings close by in Haslar and also in the original HMIC centre itself. The buildings planned are modern and adversely opposed to these historic buildings and completely out of character. The proposed buildings were initially designed as TWO stories in keeping with the surrounding populated area. Without any consultation whatsoever it has now been changed to THREE stories. The proposed building would dominate the historic coastline and be a complete eyesore. Local residents will be subject to 24 hour lack of privacy, noise and unwanted light pollution. As far as I am aware there are no immigration centres as large as proposed situated within yards of local homes and families? Noise, traffic and environmental issues have been identified as excessive in the past two years and that has only been through getting the initial 130 holding area up to ‘standard’. This proposal to extend to a 600 holding area will escalate these identified problems sky high. The local residents, and Gosport council have NOT been listened to regarding this proposal and I have grave doubts that we will be listened to now but I want to state my complete opposition to this development proposal. I doubt we will have many tourists coming to walk the Kings coastal path once this monstrosity is in place.
