The refurbished Gosport IRC will eventually have 600 beds. A number of key concerns:- 1) How many relatives & friends is predicted will visit the inmates? 2) What provision will be made to transport these visitors or to enable those in private transport to park without disturbing the residents of the area? 3) Transport of inmates to & from Gosport IRC will create a regular daily flow of prison transport vehicles. Where will these be parked? 4) What security measures will be in place to prevent the illegal delivery of personal mobile phones, cigarettes, drugs by drones from outside the walls and what provision planned to safeguard residents from suppliers? 5) The development is significantly larger and taller than current. How will inmates be controlled in terms of noise that will likely be experience from cells and exercise yards to minimise the disruption to local residents? 6) What is the expected length of time an inmate will be detained at Gosport IRC before being removed?
